MIT faces a budget shortfall of $35 million for next year, despite cost savings of $34 million this year, MIT President Charles M. Vest said in a letter to faculty this week.
Contrary to a report by the Boston Globe, the budget for the Stata Center project remains at $283.5 million, not $430 million.
The exploratory subject option is available for the first time this year. J. Mark Schuster PhD ’79, chair of the Committee on the Undergraduate Program, felt that the low number of sophomores who signed up should be alleviated “once there’s a junior class to tell sophomores about it.”
All consumption of alcohol in public areas must be registered with MIT, said Daniel Trujillo, associate dean for the community development and substance abuse programs.
