Welcome to The Tech

Eight thousand copies of The Tech are distributed free to over 60 campus locations and to subscribers nationwide Tuesday and Friday mornings during regular MIT class sessions. We publish weekly during January, monthly over the summer, and start publishing early to welcome the new freshmen during orientation. In all, there are approximately 65 issues per year. A study by students of the MIT Sloan School of Management shows that The Tech's average readership is 15,000 per issue.

When our readers open The Tech, they open a world full of news — campus as well as national — plus a world of feature stories, sports, advertising, and much more. As one of the nation's oldest college newspapers, the award-winning Tech has been serving the MIT community since 1881. The Tech was honored in 1994 as the winner of the Karl Taylor Compton Prize, MIT's most prestigious award for service to the Institute.

Students, faculty, and staff turn to The Tech for campus news and events, coverage of worldwide news from The New York Times and The Boston Globe, crossword puzzles, comics, and more. In addition, The Tech brings MIT home to countless parents and alumni.

As the campus's primary and largest newspaper, readers depend on The Tech for information about job openings, concerts and theater events, places to shop and dine, and much more. Hundreds of advertisers, from Fortune 500 companies to local retailers and restaurants, have consistently found The Tech to be a reliable and cost-effective way of reaching the thousands of members of the MIT community.

The Tech looks forward to developing a personalized and detailed marketing program that meets your specific advertising needs.
