Materials Science Professor Donald R. Sadoway removes the foil on a bottle of Champagne Wednesday in his final lecture for 3.091, the solid-state chemistry GIR class he has taught for 16 years. Following a lecture on eutectic properties of mixtures, Sadoway explained the chemistry of Champagne production and demonstrated the proper serving of the beverage.



In celebration of Wikipedia’s tenth birthday, hackers installed a suspended globe of puzzle pieces, modeled after the online encyclopedia’s logo, in Lobby 7. Wikipedia’s logo, used since 2003, is an incomplete puzzle composed of pieces bearing characters from various languages.

In order to print full color pages, the paper must pass through four separate presses, with cyan, magenta, yellow, and black layers aligning to produce images.
