Associate Professor in Science, Technology and Society David Jones, shot in high dynamic range, was named MacVicar Faculty Fellow this year for his outstanding teaching. Jones, besides teaching, has led for the past four years a series of conferences about race, science and technology.



A sign titled “Carnivorous Plants Win” along with a toilet plunger appeared in the Dollar Bill Lounge in the Infinite Corridor, a reference to the carnivorous plants that threaten the plumber Mario in the Mario video game series. Hackers put up signs around campus with various meanings of the acronym “CPW” for the start of MIT’s Campus Preview Weekend on April 16.



MIT varsity pistol coach Will Hart Jr. meets with his team after the 8 a.m. meeting where it was announced that pistol would no longer be a varsity sport at MIT, despite the team’s reputation as one of MIT’s most successful.



A large black fake bomb made from concrete appeared on Kresge Oval in the early hours of Friday, April 24 adorned with the letters “DTYD,” to advertise the Dance Till You Drop party put on by the Burton Third Bombers.



The pastry chef at Elephant Walk prepares a dessert called Mousse aux Fruits de Passion, a tart passion fruit mousse served in an almond lace cup, garnished with fresh pineapple chunks, and macerated in dark rum, sugar, and citrus on Wednesday, April 29.



A dark chocolate fondue with a splash of Grand Marnier with fresh fruits and cookies for dipping.



A 26 oz. T-bone steak with allium butter and fried onions is served in KO Prime style, decorated with flower petals.



DURABILITY TESTING—A .22-caliber bullet fired by MIT Pistol Coach Will Hart Jr. hits the latest iPod Shuffle at the MIT Rifle Range. The strobe used to illuminate the shot was provided by Jim Bales of the Edgerton Center, who also helped set up the scene.



The busted iPod Shuffle is seen after its encounter with a .22 bullet. The ash seen in the lower part of the unit where the bullet struck is the Lithium battery.



Hackers placed a half-scale model of the Apollo 11 “Eagle” Lunar Module on top of the Great Dome on May 17, in advance of the 40th Anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 moon landing.
