This rearrangement of the word “Techfair” appeared early last Thursday morning. The letters were placed there as advertisement of this year’s Techfair, which concluded on Monday.
Room 68-164 opened as a lounge for biology postdocs last week. The space was formerly occupied by the Bio Cafe, which was replaced by the Koch Cafe. The windows face the Stata Center and the walls are adorned with artwork by Bill Thomson.
Walter Lewin gives a special lecture on Friday June 29 titled “Trajectories in Moving and Accelerated Reference Frames” to a packed audience in 6-120. This was one lecture in an 8-lecture series that will continue until July 20.
The Institute held an Ice Cream Social on July 2 to celebrate L. Rafael Reif and Chris A. Kaiser’s PhD ’87 first days as president and provost, respectively. Hundreds of members of the community lined up along the Infinite Corridor to get ice cream and to chat with Reif and Kaiser.
Benjamin R. Bond ‘13 juggles last Friday evening on Killian Court. The MIT Juggling Club holds regular meetings for people to drop in and juggle.
Josh Knowles, singer and violinist from the folk rock band “Nemes,” performed last Friday evening at Fred Fest V. Fred Fest is an annual outdoor concert held at East Campus and co-sponsored by WMBR.
The procession into Killian Court was led by James Champy ’63, the chairman of the Presidential Search Committee. He is also a member of the MIT Corporation’s Executive Committee.
