MIT Needs HowToGAMIT

I was disappointed to read the story on about the HowTo Get Around MIT guide ["Funding, Staff Shortfalls Doom HowToGAMIT," Oct. 24] in The Tech. Over the past year and half that I have been at MIT, I have used the guide occasionally and consider it an important resource. In these shrinking times, I can understand that it is hard to continue to finance its publication. I fully support the initiative to publish HowToGAMIT on the World-Wide Web. I understand that not everyone uses the Internet, but the lack of funding for the hard copy leaves HowToGAMIT with little choice. People who are Internet-challenged can access the guide via a library or friend's computer.
