Alumnae Association laments Planned Parenthood censorship
We were distressed to read of the censorship of the Planned Parenthood advertisement in the MIT telephone directory ["Planned Parenthood ad modified in directories," Oct. 31].
As representatives of MIT women graduates and, to some extent, of women currently on campus (who will be Association of MIT Alumnae members in the future) we believe strongly that access to information -- regardless of one's personal opinions on abortion or birth control -- should be the right of all students and employees of the Institute. Censorship of wording in an advertisement whose sole purpose was to convey information about available services is not in the spirit of an open university.
