After Delays, Anna’s Taqueria Projected to Open Thurs.

By Jeffrey Chang

STAFF REPORTER

Anna’s Taqueria on the first floor of the Student Center will most likely open for business this Thursday, said worker Carlos Bibas. Former projected opening dates include the first day of classes, Feb. 1, and last Friday, Feb. 4.

The original opening date of Feb. 1 had to be pushed back because of the blizzard in January, said Director of Campus Dining Richard D. Berlin III. The snow caused a delay in the delivery of furniture, lights, and other fixtures, he said. At the beginning of last week, workers were “cranking like crazy,” doing everything they could to open as soon as possible, and the plan was to open on Feb. 4, Berlin said.

The restaurant will be in the space left behind by Arrow Street Crepes, which closed last June after experiencing poor business.

On Friday, Anna’s Taqueria owner Michael Kamio had said he was not sure if the restaurant could open that day because of a possible wait for fire inspection approvals.

The Mexican restaurant will seat up to 50 people, he said.
