Emerson Student Killed During Celebration After Sox Game

A student at Emerson College was shot and killed by Boston Police with a supposedly non-lethal weapon during the celebration after the Red Sox won a spot in the World Series, according to an Associate Press news story.

The student, Victoria Snelgrove, was shot in the eye by a police officer on crowd control duty, according to the story.

Boston Police Commissioner Kathleen O’Toole apologized to Snelgrove’s family, and the police department accepted full responsibility for the death, according to the story. “The Boston Police Department is devastated by this tragedy,” she said during a news conference. “This terrible event should never have happened.”
