Custodian Found Dead

The body of an MIT night custodian was found in a men’s bathroom in Building E51 early Monday morning, MIT police said.

MIT Police Chief John Di Fava said the MIT police received a call at 8 a.m. reporting that a men’s room door was “partially blocked.” According to the MIT police log, a caller reported a person in the men’s room of the first floor of E51 “in need of medical assistance.”

Di Fava said that the man was later identified as an MIT custodian, and that the cause of death at the time appeared “to be natural causes.”

The investigation has been handed over to the city medical examiner and the District Attorney’s office in accordance with Massachusetts law, Di Fava said.
