Boston Weather: 47.0°F | Light Rain

Weather: Moist and Mild

By Nikki Prive -- The region of high pressure which gave us clear skies yesterday will move off of the coast today, and winds from the south will carry warm air over the city during the day, with temperatures well above normal. This evening, a warm front will sweep through, bringing rain overnight and on Thursday. After the front passes through, relatively mild temperatures will prevail through the weekend, with highs in the 40s (6C).

This continues a warm trend which started last fall. The average temperature in December was almost 7F (4C) warmer than normal, with only three days in all of December having below average temperatures. Three record maximum high temperatures were set during the first week of December, as well as one high minimum record.

Overall, this past December was the second warmest on record for Boston, ending the eighth warmest year on record, and the seventh driest since the late nineteenth century.
