The Beauty Of Red Brick
I am dismayed that your article on the Kendall Square firehouse [“Old Firehouse to Make Way for Inn,” Feb. 15] went to lengths to portray it as ugly, using terms like “degenerating” and “crumbling,” and reporting that some citizens want it destroyed.
Just who have you been talking to? To my eyes, the building is a beautiful old structure that’s certainly worthy of being restored.
The mall-ification of the United States can only be stopped one step at time. Preserving lovely red brick buildings like the Kendall Square firehouse is one of them.
