MIT Men's Rugby Club Detroys Babson Team with 31-0 Victory

The men's rugby club scored early and often on Saturday when they shut out the Babson Old Boys 31­0. "It was a good confidence building win for us, going into the toughest part of our season," said captain Dave Stracher '82.

MIT scored quickly after kickoff with a try by Todd Nightingale '01. The rest of the first half was a field position game. MIT scored a penalty kick and led 10­0 at the half.

In the second half, MIT had the wind at their back and took advantage. Tries by outside center Steve Lasher G and fullback Gilles Schlienger G increased the lead to 24­0. Cornelius O'Sullivan rounded out the scoring with his first try for the A-side team. The rugby club's next game is October 17 at Seacoast in Portsmouth, N.H.
