Women's Tennis Team Destroys Babson 9-0

The women's tennis team played against Babson College at home on Tuesday. Due to inclement weather, all matches were completed indoors. MIT won the conference match 9­0 to remain undefeated in the conference.

In doubles play, Mealani Nakamura '00 and Kelly Koskelin '02 won 8­2 at the first position. Jessica Hall '02 and Nisha Singh '00 won the last seven games of their match to prevail by a score of 8­3. The third doubles was won by MIT by default.

In singles, Nakamura won 6­3, 6­0 at the first position, while Koskelin won 6­0, 6­1 at second singles. Hall also won easily, 6­1, 6­0 at third singles, while Singh prevailed 6­2, 6­2 at fourth singles. Yi-Ning Cheng '02 dropped just one game in winning 6­1, 6­0 at fifth singles. Due to the fact that Babson only had 5 players, sixth singles was also won by MIT by default.

"I was happy with our focus throughout the match. It was a powerful win for us," said coach Carol Matsuzaki. The team next plays at home on Saturday against Mount Holyoke College in a conference match.
