Reality Check!

By Marek Zebrowski
Staff Meteorologist

April-like weather will make one more appearance late this week before the seasons and the calendar are in agreement again. As the high pressure moves off the east coast, colder and clearer weather will be replaced by increasing clouds, strengthening southerly winds and rains, approaching from the south and west. During Friday, a low pressure system in the Mississippi Valley will move into the eastern Great Lakes, along a cold front advancing slowly eastward. Plentiful moisture ahead of it will cause widespread rains in the Appalachians and the Ohio Valley. Moisture associated with this feature will reach our region by late Friday and cause numerous showers during Saturday. As this front moves off-shore, colder weather and fair skies will return for Sunday and early next week.

Today: Partly sunny and mild with increasing clouds. High 58F (14C) with fresh southwesterly breezes.

Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy with a few sprinkles or scattering of showers moving in from west to east. Low 48F (9C).

Saturday: Mild with showers likely. Some breaks in overcast late in the day. High 62F (17C)

Sunday outlook: Clearing and turning colder. Lows in high 20s (-2 to -3C), highs near 40F (4C)
