Showery Weather Ahead

By Michael Morgan
Staff Meteorologist

From the Blue Hills of southeastern Massachusetts to the White Mountains of northern New England, it appears as though only the first half of the upcoming weekend will be salvageable. An anticyclone currently located just east of Boston will slowly move east during the weekend.

As the anticyclone travels east, brisk southerly winds will move in warmer, more moist air from the South. This moist southerly flow of air, together with a cold front arriving from the West late Saturday, brings the possibility of rain and rain showers for late Saturday in western New England. Rain and rain showers will spread eastward to the coast on Sunday.

Today: Partly sunny and mild. Winds southwest 510 mph (816 kmh). High 65°F (18°C).

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low 56°F (13°C).

Saturday: Increasing clouds and warm. Showers possible after sunset in western New England. Winds increasing from the South 1020 mph (1632 kmh). High 7376°F (2325°C). Low 6065°F (1618°C).

Sunday: Rain and rain showers developing. Breezy and mild. High 6873°F (2023°C). Low around 60°F (16°C).
