Squash Loses to Naval AcademyBy Koichi Kunitake
The squash team played its opening game against the U.S. Naval Academy on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at DuPont Gymnasium. The team lost 9-0 to the Academy, which was ranked fifth in the nation last year.
The meet included several close matches, but it was clear that the team will have to work hard to equal last year's 14th place ranking. The loss of seven of the team's top nine players to graduation means that the team has less experience.
Captain Safroadu Yeboah-Amankwah G had a tough match against his Navy opponent, who was a three-time All-American. His difficulties were compounded by the fact that the matches were played with a hard ball, instead of the softer squash ball that the team members were used to.
The team will play again on Monday, at Trinity College.
