LCA Apologizes For Vandalism at TEP

The Tech received a copy of this letter addressed to the MIT community.

The brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha apologize to the members of the MIT community for the acts of vandalism taken against Tau Epsilon Phi. LCA would also like to apologize to the lesbigay community at MIT for the inappropriateness of the actions of its members. LCA does not condone, support, or endorse any of the feelings that were portrayed by the actions taken upon the TEP fraternity house. We also realize that the Interfraternity Council at MIT does not condone this activity and the actions taken by our house are in now way representative of the IFC or any other independent living groups on campus.

The brothers of LCA recognize that the actions taken were, at best, insensitive to many members of the community. We realize that such behavior cannot be tolerated because it tears at the fabric of our community: diversity. At LCA we pride ourselves on our diversity and realize that this aspect of the academic community needs to be maintained and protected.

Measures are being taken to discipline the individuals involved and we intend to work with the Dean's Office at MIT to investigate and implement a sensitivity training program addressing the delicate issues mentioned above.
