A bomb threat closed Building 10 on Friday morning for about one and a half hours, but no explosives were found.

The threat was made over the phone to the office of Glenn P. Strehle '58, vice president and treasurer, shortly after 10 am. According to Robert C. DiIorio, associate director of the MIT News Office, the caller said briefly, "There's a bomb in Building 10. Get the f--- out." The building was evacuated and closed immediately, steel fire doors were closed and a bomb sweep was conducted. The building was reopened shortly before noon.

The caller made no indication that the threat was in any way related to the war in the Persian Gulf. No other threats have been reported.
