Response of Israelis to intifada may discredit their reputation

To the Editor:

In response to the article on Israel and the media ["Israel learns to fight a media war," Feb. 14], I would like to point out that it is obvious to me that President Chaim Herzog believes that the foreign media coverage of the intifada is biased. The Israeli national broadcasting agency has banned the use of the word "intifada" completely. So much for bias.

I would like to reassure Herzog that a few more years of foreign media coverage and Israel will be fortunate enough to escape the prying lenses just like Iran and Iraq.

At that point, the public will have already realized that Israel, like Iran and Iraq, is not the democracy it claims to be.
