Women's R/O Committee should have sent book to all incoming students
The incoming freshwomen would be better served if all MIT students, men and women, received a copy of The New Our Bodes, Ourselves. The Women's Residence/Orientation Committee is making a sexist blunder in thinking that only new MIT women need to read and think about nutrition, abortion, violence against women, birth control, and sexuality. If the Undergraduate Academic Support Office was able to send all incoming students another book, then funding issues alone did not keep all students from receiving The New Our Bodies, Ourselves. Women have been reading books with a male bias for years; the Women's R/O Committee missed an opportunity to encourage men to read a book written for women from the point of view of women.
