The MIT women’s volleyball team battled Mount Holyoke College for a 25-23, 25-13, 25-22 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory on Tuesday night. With the win, the Engineers improved to 10-5 on the year and 2-1 in league play while the Lyons dipped to 8-3 overall and 0-3 in the NEWMAC.

Michelle H. Teplensky ’13 and Molly K. Duffy ’13 accounted for all of MIT’s scoring in a 3-2 NEWMAC field hockey victory over Springfield College on Saturday afternoon. Teplensky produced two goals and an assist while Duffy had one goal and an assist for the nationally-ranked No. 19 Engineers (7-0, 1-0 NEWMAC).

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The MIT men’s volleyball team will join the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) starting in 2014. The Engineers, who have been an independent team for the past two seasons, will begin conference play immediately with the UVC.

Seven unanswered goals along with 14 saves from goalie Christopher B. Rullan ’13 in the first half helped power the MIT men’s lacrosse team to an 11-5 victory over Clark University in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Saturday afternoon. For the second straight outing, Chris S. Cook ’15 led the way for the Engineers (4-9, 2-3 Pilgrim) as he generated a game-high four goals.

In the regular-season finale for both squads, Springfield College defeated MIT, 11-7, in a NEWMAC women’s lacrosse game on Monday night. Kira M. Schott ’16 paced the Engineers (6-10, 2-4 NEWMAC) with four goals while Connie Nielsen registered four goals and an assist for the Pride (9-7, 4-2 NEWMAC).

In its final home match of the regular season on Tuesday night, the nationally-ranked MIT men’s volleyball team defeated Endicott College, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22. The victory extended the Engineers’ winning streak to 12 and lifted their record to 24-11 on the year while the Gulls dipped to 20-9 on the season.

Emma Kane ’15 amassed five goals and two assists in leading the MIT women’s lacrosse team to a 21-6 victory over Framingham State University on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Engineers improved to 4-5 on the year.

The nationally-ranked No. 13 MIT men’s volleyball improved its yearly record to 5-5 after a 2-2 performance at the Golden Flyer Invitational hosted by Nazareth College this past weekend. On Saturday, the Engineers swept No. 11 Medaille College, 25-22, 20-15, 25-20, but fell to Elmira College, 20-25, 25-18, 21-25, 27-25, 15-7. The next day, MIT blanked Southern Vermont College, 27-25, 25-21, 25-19, and then dropped a 28-30, 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 15-8 decision to No. 5 Nazareth. Paul M. Syta ’14 represented the Cardinal and Gray on the all-tournament team.

The MIT women’s basketball team saw four players reach double-digits in scoring as it defeated Mount Holyoke College, 57-44, in a NEWMAC contest on Saturday. Sabrina M. Drammis ’16 led all scorers with 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in leading the Engineers (9-11, 5-9 NEWMAC) to their first series sweep of the Lyons. Sophomore Amber Legare paced Mount Holyoke (5-14, 3-11 NEWMAC) with 12 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.

MIT Men’s Fencing compiled a 4-1 ledger in its final Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) competition held this past Saturday at Brown University. The Engineers fell to the host Bears (19-8), but defeated Boston College (16-11), Tufts University (22-5), Dartmouth College (15-12), and Vassar College (18-9). The épée team racked up a record of 38-7 on the day while the best individual performance came from Nicholas Sledeski ’16 who won 14 of his 15 bouts in sabre action.
