The MIT women’s volleyball team kicked off its 2007 campaign by winning its sixth straight Gordon College Invitational last Saturday. The Engineers opened the day by sweeping Lasell College (30-14, 30-11, 30-18), and then outlasted Endicott College (27-30, 30-27, 30-32, 30-24, 15-11) in a five-game thriller. MIT blanked Johnson and Wales University (30-17, 30-28, 30-21) in the title match to give head coach Paul Dill his 300th career victory. Amanda J. Morris ’08 was named the Tournament MVP, while Rose Zhong ’08 was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Top-seeded MIT outlasted No. 2 Wheaton College, 5-3, en route to its ninth consecutive New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Tennis Championship.

The nationally-ranked No. 11 MIT men’s volleyball team finished its incredible season in the quarter-final round of the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Championship Tournament this past weekend. The Engineers (27-6), seeded No. 5, outlasted No. 12 Endicott College (28-30, 30-19, 30-18, 21-30, 15-9) in the opening round, but then fell to No. 4 seed and nationally-ranked No. 7 D’Youville College (30-22, 30-20, 30-27).

Tyler G. Sorba '07 registered six of MIT's first eight goals as it went on to post a 14-8 victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Saturday afternoon. Sorba's game-high seven points raised the Engineers' ledger to 4-6 on the year and 2-4 in the conference.

In a battle of undefeated conference foes, nationally-ranked No. 22 MIT men's tennis registered a 6-3 win over Wheaton College in the NEWMAC regular-season finale for both squads on Saturday. With the victory, the Engineers (11-5, 5-0 NEWMAC) collected their ninth consecutive regular season conference championship in the NEWMAC's nine-year history.

MIT's 12 first-half goals were crucial in its 15-9 win over Wheaton College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse game on Tuesday night. Laura C. Watson '08 and Casey M. Flynn '10 paced the Engineers (4-6, 2-3 NEWMAC) with four goals and an assist while Madeline Williams posted four goals for the Lyons (3-10, 2-3 NEWMAC).

Senior designated hitter Mike Pritchard went 4-for-6 at the plate with a pair of home runs and five RBI to lead the Clark University baseball team to a 19-14 victory over MIT in a NEWMAC slugfest Tuesday afternoon, at Granger Field. Clark (9-12, 2-3 NEWMAC) snapped a two-game conference losing skid with the win, while MIT (6-7, 3-3) endured its third straight loss after a surprising 3-0 start in league play.

The Babson College women's lacrosse team scored 13 second-half goals en route to a 21-10 win over visiting MIT in a NEWMAC contest on Tuesday night. The nationally-ranked No. 17 Beavers improved to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference while the Engineers dropped to 2-6 on the year and 0-3 in the NEWMAC.

In a pair of weekend matches, nationally-ranked No. 22 MIT fell to No. 16 Bowdoin College, 5-3, on Friday and then defeated NEWMAC foe Babson College, 9-0, on Saturday. The split moved the Engineers' record to 8-5 on the year and 2-0 in conference play.
