After capturing the program’s 16th consecutive conference crown last spring, the MIT men’s tennis team was picked to win the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) crown, as announced by the league last Friday morning. Tech received seven first-place votes in the preseason poll — votes were casted by the conference’s coaches.

For the second time this season, Olivia M. Struckman ’18 netted a pair of goals as the No. 20 MIT women’s soccer team wrapped up their regular season with a 3-0 victory over the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, November 1 at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. With the win, MIT (14-3-2, 9-0-1 NEWMAC) clinched the top seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament and will host the semifinals and championship on Saturday, Nov. 8-9. Despite falling to 8-8-2 and 3-6-1, Coast Guard clinched the final conference tournament spot.

Springfield College’s Brian Malone netted the match’s only goal at 20:32 as the Pride defeated MIT, 1-0, on Saturday, October 25 at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. With the win, Springfield improves to 7-5-5 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play, while MIT falls to 6-5-4 and 2-4.

Morgan K. Moroi ’16 and Olivia M. Struckman ’18 each located the back of the Smith College net as MIT defeated the Pioneers, 2-0, on Saturday, October 18 at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. With the win, MIT improves to 10-3-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the conference, while Smith falls to 5-6-1 and 3-3-0.

Nicole M. Miko ’18 registered her first goal of the season at 98:58 in overtime following a feed from Morgan K. Moroi ’16 as the Engineers rallied to defeat Clark University, 2-1, on Saturday, October 11 in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. With the victory, MIT improves to 8-3-2 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play, while Clark falls to 1-11-0 and 0-4-0.

Wheaton College’s Travis Blair netted the game’s lone goal at 10:32 off a penalty kick to provide the No. 17 Lyons a 1-0 victory against MIT on Saturday afternoon at Roberts Field in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. With the victory, Wheaton improves to 11-2-1 overall and 4-0-0 in conference play, while MIT falls to 4-4-4 and 1-3-0.

Four different players located the back of the Mount Holyoke College net as the Engineers cruised to a 4-0 victory against the Lyons on Saturday, October 4 at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. With the win, the Engineers improve to 6-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play, while the Lyons fall to 4-7-0 and 0-3-0.

Morgan K. Moroi ’16 recorded one goal and one assist as MIT claimed their first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory with a 2-1 win over Springfield College on Saturday, September 27. MIT, which improves to 5-3-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play, earns their first victory against the Pride since defeating them in the NEWMAC Championship in 2009, while Springfield, which is currently ranked seventh in New England, falls to 4-2-1 and 1-1.

For the second time this week, MIT’s Joshua M. Wilson ’18 located the back of the net twice as the Engineers defeated Emerson College, 3-0, on Saturday, September 20 in their New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. Wilson netted his first goal from outside the box following a feed from Chester Chambers ’15 at 26:20 before depositing his second marker off a free kick at 80:55 in the second half.

For the third time this season, MIT’s women soccer team, ranked 25th in the nation and third in the region in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, earned a one-goal victory as the Engineers defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 1-0, on Sunday morning at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. The Engineers and Athena’s were originally scheduled to face-off on Saturday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m., but due to inclement weather the game was postponed to the morning of Sunday, September 7.
