MIT Men’s Track and Field wrapped up competition at the New England Outdoor Championships with an eighth place finish with 36.50 points on Saturday. The Engineers finished just ahead of New Hampshire, with 35 points. Southern Connecticut State came in first place with 159 points.

The list of the individuals who will be competing in the 2013 NCAA Division III Tennis Tournament was released on Wednesday afternoon, revealing the names of two MIT athletes. Lauren C. Quisenberry ’14 will represent the MIT women’s tennis team for the second time in her career, the last of which was in 2011, while Edwin M. Zhang ’14 will be making his first nationals appearance. The last MIT men’s tennis player to make it to NCAAs was Tom Dohlman in 2007.

At the conclusion of the 2013 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Track and Field Championships at Springfield College on Saturday, Michael S. Kaba ’16 was named the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year for his performances at the meet. This is the second year in a row that an MIT athlete has received the award.

Just days after winning their fifteenth consecutive New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title, four members of the MIT men’s tennis team were selected for All-Conference honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. This is the second year in a row that four players have been selected.

In its last home match of the regular season, the No. 20 nationally ranked MIT men’s tennis team defeated Brandeis University with a score of 8-1. The Engineers, who remain ranked sixth in the Northeast Region, are now 15-1, while the Judges fell to 7-10.

Wyatt L. Ubellacker ’13 has had quite the impressive year: the senior helped lead the men’s swimming and diving team to its fifth consecutive New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title, was named the NEWMAC Swimmer of the Year for his five first place finishes, three of which were individual, and set four conference records.

To conclude the indoor season, seven members of the No. 8 nationally-ranked MIT women’s track and field team traveled to North Central College for the NCAA Division III Championship that will take place on Friday and Saturday. The Engineers, who finished in 26th place at last year’s NCAA championship, wrapped up the meet tied for 13th place with Keene State College with 15 points. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, who led from the very beginning, finished in first place with 56 points.

A few hours before another snowstorm was set to hit New England on Wednesday afternoon, MIT men’s tennis faced Bates College in the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble, walking away with a 6–3 win. The undefeated Engineers increased their streak to 7–0, the longest they have remained unbeaten in the past few seasons. The Bearcats’ record fell to 2–3.

With day two of the 2013 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming and Diving championships completed, the MIT men’s team held on to the lead that they had established the day before. The Engineers won six of the seven events, bringing their point total to 750. Springfield College took over the second place spot with 438 points.

The MIT Women’s Track and Field, which was ranked 11th in the nation in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, officially opened the season at the Harvard Challenge on Friday and Saturday. The Engineers ended the weekend in sixth place with 26.5 points, just a handful of points behind Williams with 34 and Brown with 46.
