Correction (8/14/2012 8:20 p.m.): A previous version of this interactive incorrectly showed Stanford's 2012 endowment at $19.7 billion with a 19% increase in FY 2012. It is actually $17.0 billion, having increased by 3%.

MIT's endowment, managed by the MIT Investment Management Company, funds operations and capital projects across the Institute. This year, the endowment achieved its all-time high market value of $10.15 billion, surpassing its highest value prior to the 2008 financial crisis.
