The Tech’s Athlete of the Week: Timothy F. Pier ’08

Timothy F. Pier ’08 clinched an individual spot in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Eastern Regional Championship this weekend with his performance at the Boston College Carnival on Feb. 9–10. Pier entered the competition only a single point ahead of his nearest competitor, but secured his spot by finishing seventh in the slalom (1:35.35) and ninth on the second day (1:31.88).

Pier finished the regular season ranked 11th in the league to lead the Engineers. He competes in the Eastern Regional race at Waterville Valley this upcoming weekend with a chance to advance to the national championship by finishing as the top individual from a non-qualifying team.

The men’s alpine skiing team finished the regular season ranked sixth in the MacConnell Division of the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference, falling just short of qualifying for the regionals as a team. The women’s team placed ninth.
