On Tuesday, October 19, 1993 at approximately 2:30 am an MIT student was the victim of an armed robbery at the entrance of Ashdown House on the Amherst St. side. As the victim was walking toward the Ashdown entrance, a suspect approached the victim and placed a knife against his side, demanding the victim's wallet. When the victim told the suspect he did not have a wallet, the suspect searched the victim and removed $4 cash from his pockets. The suspect then fled onto Massachusetts Ave. The victim was unharmed.
The victim described his assailant as follows: black male; approximately 20 years old; 5'9"; thin build; wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.
This is the fourth incident of armed robbery since October 16, 1993. The MIT Police Department has increased police patrols during the late night hours and has requested additional patrol assistance on the perimeter of the campus from the Cambridge Police.
